Poll Post: One for the first day of a World Geography Class

I intend to use our mobile computer labs during class a lot more this year.  I can also have them go to the blog at home and take a poll at the end of the unit or the beginning of a new unit.  I went with the site Blog Polls.com.  Very easy to use, but I wish it let you ask more than one question at a time.

Please let me know if the Poll is working.  I tested it and now on my screen all I can see is the results of my vote, I am hoping that when others first go to my page it will show the poll, not my results.  I also checked the box to allow comments, but I didn't see a comment box.  Let me know if that works on your end.

  1. The poll worked for me. I also have the goal of using our mobile computer labs more too. We got them last year and I didn't get to them as often as I'd have liked. Do you find it difficult to sign your labs out? We have a class that takes the mobile lab for one hour twice a week which makes it difficult to use.

    1. Tyler,

Our new Tech guy is amazing and has fought really hard to get more resources for us. We now have 6 mobile labs. In addition, there used to be a lot of technical complications with our mobile labs (internet connectivity, software licenses, etc.) and our old tech guy didn't do much to fix them so people just stopped using the labs. Last year, if I planned ahead, I could have them whenever I needed them.

  2. I took the poll on my phone, but I wasn't given the option to leave a comment. Good idea for implementation. Interesting that you can only ask one question though.

    1. Angela,

Thanks for your help. I need to experiment with this tool a little more and see if its advanced features will allow you to do more than one question.

  3. I really like this poll. I never thought to use a poll to see where interests were at the beginning of the year. This is great because now students will be looking forward to the lesson on where their interests were. Good idea!

  4. Jenni,

Thanks for your comment. It worked really well the first few years before I had settle into a bit of a routine. Now it kind of back fires on me when they all say they want to learn a lot about an area that I usually don't spend much time on. But if you are willing to adapt, it is a great way to find out their interests.
